Category: Wintereenmas Update

IMG_0383_convertedAll we can say is WOW!

Every year we see this event grow, and this year was no different. One of the biggest things was new faces! Lots of new people who showed up to play their favorite games with everyone else. We had out first League of Legends tournament, and the spectator area was cheering the players on!

We had people playing board games, card games, consoles… And even someone who was remotely playing a pen and paper table top game over their webcam link to people in another city!

Check out over on the Media page for pictures.

With the great response, and people asking for more, we will be announcing dates for the 2014 Summer LAN Party in the following weeks. Keep checking back for more information, or follow our Facebook page!

We will be getting in contact with the Four Hills Health region to arrange for our donation to the Children’s ward at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. People like you make it possible for us to continue to bring smiles to sick kid’s faces!

Until the next time…. GAME ON!

Last Minutes Stuff!

wintereenmasHello, all you rabid… uhm.. I mean AVID gamers!

Wintereenmas 2014 News

wintereenmas

We’ve got our initial planning done, and next year’s Wintereenmas celebrations looks like it’s shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before! Over then next few weeks we will be finalizing most of our plans for the 2014 event. We have been scouting new locations to better serve the ever growing number of people that we expect to see. With your help, we expect to have around 50-60 people or more this year!

Keep an eye out for registration to open! Make sure to tell all your friends about the event. Remember: every dollar we can bring in is more that gets put towards a children’s charity to enhance gaming!

Back in May, there was the question: “Will there be a summer event?”

We hadn’t even thought about it. Most people are away for the summer, on vacation, or at the lake enjoying the sun. But we thought: What the heck! Before we knew it we had 25 gamers all set to go!

The Moose Jaw Gamer’s Association would like to thank all the people who came out to this weekend’s event. It’s people like you who made it possible for us to donate an Apple iPad to the Pediatric Unit at the Moose Jaw Hospital. The event was a screaming success, and we hope that you all enjoyed it as well!

In the coming months we will begin planning in earnest for the January 2014 Wintereenmas celebration. There were some regulars who weren’t able to make it to this past weekend, and we know you will be clawing down the doors come January to get in! Keep watching this website and our Facebook page for information. We hope to open registration sometime in October! Let everyone know, tell them about the website! Share our posts on your Facebook!

Until then: Game on!

Our summer event is rolling along and everyone is having a blast. We’ve got great summer weather, and the laughs are continuous!

2013 Donation to Hospital

An additional goal of the Association is to provide charitable donations to children’s charities. This year we have focused on the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Children’s Ward. With the funds gathered during the January event, we were able to purchase a new iPad which was presented to Kelly McElree, Moose Jaw Health Foundation Executive Director. He showed up at the event, and sat with us for a while to talk about gaming!

We thank Kelly for coming out, and hope to see him at our January 2014 Wintereenmas celebration!

Last Minute Stuff!

happy-kid-at-computerWe have less than 3 days to the start of Wintereenmas in July!

Some last minutes suggestions for everyone who is coming:

  • Make sure all your games are pre-loaded and up to date. We do have internet on the network, but if everyone is trying to do an update it will lag out and fail.
  • Remember to bring a power bar so you can plug in!
  • We do have chairs, but they are not comfortable for long term gaming! Bring your favorite gaming chair.
  • Headsets are a must. If you want sound, bring a headset to plug in.
  • Alcohol is allowed, but anyone who gets out of hand will be ejected. Minors will at no time be allowed to consume alchohol.
  • Turn off your torrenting software!

We have had a few questions about hours of play. We will be opening up the doors at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, and will be playing until the wee hours of the morning. The only thing that would keep us from going 24 hours a day would be the fact that we have to have a Trustee at the location at all times, and we’re short a couple this time around. We’ll do our best, but tentatively will be having  some down time during Sunday morning.

Pizza will be provided on Saturday evening! We’ll order it up and have it available to everyone!

Wintereenmas in July is only 2 short weeks away!

We are still accepting registrations for the next week, and have lots of tickets still available. Reserve your seat and join us!
