Blizzard Entertainment announced yesterday that their internal network had been compromised and access to all of their Battle.Net accounts info aside from credit cards, billing addresses, or real names were stolen.
Some data was illegally accessed, including a list of email addresses for global Battle.net users, outside of China. For players on North American servers (which generally includes players from North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia) the answer to the personal security question, and information relating to Mobile and Dial-In Authenticators were also accessed.
This means as long as you change your password and follow good password rules, you should be secure in the knowledge that your account is safe. For the extra paranoid, also swap out your authenticator for a new one. Simply trade yours for a friend’s and you’re golden!
