DnD at Winter GAX by Chris Hawes

D&D will be on once again at Winter GAX. The setup will be the same as last time, we will run games as people want to. If you don’t have a Player’s Handbook, Wizards has provided a free rule booklet. It doesn’t have all the rules, but it has enough to get you started. You can also head on down to Game On and purchase a copy from there. We will be using a point buy system for character creation. You have 27 points to use to create your character. The rules are all listed in the link above on page 8 of the PDF under “4. Describe Your…

    3 6 9 Role Playing System – Demoing a Game

The creator of this game informed me that it’s anywhere from 3 – 6 people needed to play and that he will demo as long as there is enough interest in it, no specific start or stop times.  This will be getting Demoed at Summer Gax this year.  And now a bit about the game from the creator. 3 6 9 Role Playing System 3 6 9 employs fast paced dungeon crawling adventure with challenging social role playing systems and a comprehensive item creation component that blend together to create a self contained narrative system.   The 3 6 9 role playing system was born out of a desire to…

Original post here. I will be running another tabletop RPG game at GAX. This time I am going to be running a D&D 5e game. Like last time, I’ll probably run short 1 – 2 hour games to allow for as many people to play as possible. Each game will have 5 spots for players. These are going to be more open though as I’m not running any pre-made modules. If you don’t have the PHB you can either head on down to Game On and see if they have any copies available for purchase, or you can download the PDF of the D&D 5e Basic Rules provided by Wizards…

Vin Diesel on Dungeons and Dragons

We’ve all seen Vin Diesel in all kinds of movies, from racing cars to futuristic action flicks. But what most people don’t know is that Vin Diesel attributes a lot of his own growth to playing Dungeons and Dragons. He’s been an avid player for over 25 years, and was invited to write the foreword to the commemorative book 30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons. Watch the two clips below to see how passionate he is about one of the games that we all love. I don’t think I can put it into better words than her does.

    Antialiasing? Vsync? What?!

Part of PC gaming is the ability to tweak your graphics settings to whatever you desire. Whether for a better looking game, or more performance, you can change almost anything in the options settings. But what do some of these things mean? GameSpot published a great YouTube video that explains these terms and puts them into common language so that everyone can understand.

    Summer GAX is almost here!

We have been running around like crazy getting everything in place for Summer GAX when suddenly we looked at the calendar and realized that its only three weeks away! We have a few new things planned for this year, some obvious and some not. As I type this up, Jordan and I are working on an update cache server so that we don’t have to worry as much about League of Legends and Steam update downloads clogging the internet connection an slowing down all the games. Our in house server has been optimized to provide better central point to access all the info you may need during the event. We…
